Anegudde Sri Vinayaka temple

On a hillock in the village of Kumbashi, spreading his holiness and fulfilling the wishes of his devotees resides Lord Ganesha in his shrine of Anegudde temple. Here, he is in the form of Siddhi Vinayaka, the provider of boons. The temple is among the seven sacred shrines in the region believed to have been created by Saint Parashurama. The Lord of this temple is in mythological stories believed to have given Bheema, the Pandava brother a sword during his fight with the demon Kumbasura.

Legend

The mythological legend regarding Anegudde Sri Vinayaka temple at Kumbashi points to the the slaying of demon Kumbasura by Bheema. Kumbasura who tried to disrupt the yajna of sage Agasthya, was vanquished by the strongest Pandava with the blessed sword by Lord Ganesh. The stories of the land describes a devotee, Upadhyay, who in accordance with a dream he had, went in search of a stone in Nagachala. He found a granite stone covered in wild flowers and started worshipping it as the deity of the lord. With the help of people around Upadhyay built a straw hut to continue worship his God which later turned into the temple.

This temple is part of Mukti Kshetra Darshan.

Architecture

The Anegudde temple standing on a small hillock has a 'swayambhu' idol of Lord Ganesha. He is covered in silver armour and in the standing posture with 'varada hasta' to give boons. All around the shrine, depictions from Bhargava Purana adorn the walls. There are also shrines of Suryanarayana, Channakeshava and Lakshminarayana nearby. The ancient temple was renovated in 1985 to include dining hall, guest house, dormitory etc.

Anegudde Sri Vinayaka Temple timings: 5.30 AM to 9.00 PM
Auspicious ceremonies like wedding, naming ceremony, pooja of cars etc can be done here.
The priests will conduct various poojas on behalf of the devotees and prasad will be sent by post.

Devotees are advised to wear clean and conservative attire.
