Located in Pedakakani village of Andhra Pradesh, Sri Sri Bhramaramba Malleswara Swami temple is a famous 1000 years old temple dedicated to Lord Shiva and Goddess Shakti. Here, Goddess Shakti is worshipped in the form of Bhramaramba Devi and Lord Shiva as Sri Malleshwara Swamy. . Sri Malleswara Swamy temple was first installed by Sri Adi Shankaracharya and was later renovated by Sri Krishnadevaraya in 1440 AD. The temple is famous among the devotees for Rahu Ketu pujas.

Legend

According to the legends, once the great sage Sri Bharadwaja Maharshi visited this temple and all theerthams and prayed to the deity. He invited all the Maharshis to perform Yagna Krathuvu and performed the yagnam. However, during the offering of Havisses, a crow started having it and tried to stop the crow from eating it which was kept for the Yagna Purushas. The crow informed the sage that she was Kakasura who has got a boon of having the Havirbhagalu dedicated to the Devathas from Brahma after performing penance. She also ordered him to perform Abhishekam to her. After that the crow got white color and worshipped the deity with Jasmin’s and from then onwards, the Lord came to be called as Sri Malleswara Swamy varu and the Kshetram became popular as Kakani.

Architecture

The temple has a huge Dhwajasthamba and Rajagopuram of 60 feet, gardens and Addala Mandapam. It resembles Srisailam with all the greenery and stunning scenery around it. There is a well on the east part of the temple.

The culture of Guntur is very rich and lively. Telugu is the main language of communication in the city. One of the earlier forms of Telugu language can be noticed in this region. The city is famous for Telugu literature and a famous poet named Tikkana (1205–1288) was born in Guntur. Guntur is home to the people of different culture and different religions.
