Sri Chennakesava Swami Temple, Keshavgiri
Situated in the Kesavagiri hillock, Hyderabad, Sri Chennakesava Swami Temple, Keshavgiri Chennakesava Swamy Temple is a famous temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu. The temple is believed to be over 600 years old and built during the Vijayanagar dynasty. It is one of the rare temples that has Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu idols and it united warring Shivaite and Vaishnavaite groups in ancient days. Hence it is called Shaiva Keshava Keshtram.
According to the legends, the temple was built during the Vijayanagar dynasty. The temple is believed to be over 600 years old. This ancient temple is mentioned in certain folklore and folk tales of this particular state.
The temple premise is fully walled with special entry and exist towers in the opposite direction. The temple tower is sculpted with images of Gods and goddess. ected with 28 pillared mandapa. It has two entrances from north side and south side. The height of the elevation was nearly 50 to 60 feet from road. This temple is situated in the flat top of the elevation. The Chennakesava Swamy Murthy temple was sculpture on a boulder with ornaments. There are sub-temples of Andal, Alwars and four-armed Anjaneyaswamy.
