Ramatheertham Sri Rama Temple

Sri Ramaswamy Temple is an ancient temple situated at Ramatheertham dedicated to Lord Rama along with Sita Devi and Lakshmana. Built on a huge rock on a hill named Bavikonda, the temple is believed to be 1000 years old. According to the Puranas, the idols of Sri Rama, Sita Devi and Lakshmana were installed and worshipped by Pandavas during their 12 years exile.


According to the legends, Lord Rama, Sita Devi and Lakshmana spent time at this place during their exile period. In Dvapara Yuga, Pandavas also spent their exile at this place. Sree Krishna created Rama, Seetha and Lakshmana Idols with his Divine powers and gave them to Pandavas to offer prayers. Pandavas built a Temple for those idols and offered prayers. The Temple in Ramatheertham is situated on the hills called Bavikonda with the gracious Champa River flowing at its foot between Bhaskara Lake and Neelachalam Hills. The temple is built entirely on a huge rock. The idols are covered with silver Kavacham. Pedda Jeeyar installed a Rama Sthambam in this temple.
