Mallavaram Venkateswara Swamy Temple

Located in Mallavaram village in Prakasam district of Andhra Pradesh, Mallavaram Venkateswara Swamy Temple is a famous temple dedicated to Lord Venkateswara. The temple was built in 15th century AD by the King Krishna Devaraya of Vijayanagara Dynasty. Later Addanki Reddy kings donated lands to the temple and the steps to the temples were built by the Reddy rulers.
According to the legends, once while traveling, Lord Venkateswara decided to rest on Tammavarapu Hill. However, the hill told Lord that it can't bear him. Hearing this an angered Venkateswara kicked the edge of the hill, part of which fell into Gundlakamma. The gopuram of the temple is sculpted with idols of gods and goddesses. The internal walls of the temple are sculpted with images of musical instruments and animals.
