Kalyana Venkateswara Temple

Located at Srinivasamangapuram, Chittoor, Andhra Pradesh, Sri Kalyana Venkateswara swamy Temple is an ancient Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Venkateswara. Here, in this temple, lord Vishnu is referred to as Kalyana Venkateswara. Categorised as an ancient monument of National importance by Archaeological survey of India, the temple is one of the centrally protected monuments of national importance. According to the inscriptions on the temple, the temple was renovated during the 16th Century by the grandson of Sri Annamacharya, Sri Tallapaka Chinna Tirumala Acharya.

Legend

According to the legends, Lord Venkateswara Swamy or Lord Balaji did not return to his abode in Tirumala Hills after marrying Goddess Padmavati, the daughter of King Akasa Raja. Instead, the lord along with Goddess went to seek blessings of great saint Agasthya at his ashram. Architecture

The temple is built based on Dravidian style of construction. The idol of Lord Venkateswara is facing west and is in standing posture with four hands with left two hands one in varada mudra and one holding Chakra and right two hands one in kati mudra and the other holding Shanka.
