In the small town of Unao in Datia district stand the unique Brahmanya temple, dedicated to the Sun God. The temple is believed to have been built by the King who ruled Datia, centuries ago. The locals of the place have immense belief in the power of the deity here. Prayers to the Lord here is believed to cure skin ailments.
Legends believe that a cow who used to be taken to the outskirts of Unao to be fed, would pour her milk at a particular point there. The cow belonged to a person of the Kacchi caste. The higher Lodhi caste men saw the incident and killed the cow. The Sun Temple at Unao in Madhya Pradesh is unique in its architecture. The deity stands on a brick platform covered with black plates. There is a protective brass cover for the image. Timings : Sunday is considered as the day of deity.
Devotees are advised to wear clean and conservative attire.
Datia is an ancient town, mentioned in the Mahabharata as Daityavakra. It has many places of Hindu and Jain worship as well as beautiful palaces and gardens.

By rail - Datia railway station and Jhansi station are around 20 kms from the Sun temple. Autos/Taxis are available from railway stations to the shrine.
By road - Unao bus stand is located at the distance of 1 km from the temple.
By air- Gwalior is the nearest airport and is situated at 115kms form the shrine. Taxis are available from the airport to the Unao.
The priests perform regular puja to the deities. Aartis are performed to the Goddess.
Devotees believe that having bath in river and offering water to deity, will cure the skin ailments.
